Game 1: Don Canham 24 – Stephen M. Ross 19
Canham kicked off the night against a Ross team still searching for its first win. The action really picked up when Scott Miller stole a line-out at the 35 and followed with a 20 meter run. Miller managed to offload to Chris Vasileff, who went the rest of the way to score an unconverted try. Within the minute, Mike Ronzetti added a try of his own, with a conversion by CJ Stock. Ross did not take long to respond, with Chris Padmos scoring on a 65 meter breakaway sprint, and followed it up with a conversion. In the waning seconds of the half, Chris Barnes picked the ball off the turf after a five meter scrum and added a try. Scott Miller started the second half quickly, breaking three tackles on his way to a 60 meter try. Another new recruit on the Don Canham squad, Nick Lazurka, added a try in the 5th minute, which was converted by Ian Etheart. Once again Ross closed the half with a try of their own, with Joel Conzelmann making the conversion.
Game 2: James J. Duderstadt 31 – James Earl Jones 0
When team Duderstadt walked onto the field, they found a JEJ team which played the match very flat. Cam Watson kicked off the scoring by taking an assist from Evan Noon and John Palladino. On the ensuing possession, Ellis Kolber stole the ball on a counter ruck and Evan Noon got another assist, this time to Scolnick. In the fifth minute Evan Noon added a try of his own, and kicked his own conversion. To close out the half, Matt Crabtree scored out of the scrum to put Duderstadt up 24-0. The second half saw much better defense on behalf of JEJ led by Danny DiGregorio and Steve Offringa. Unfortunately, it was not enough to keep Duderstadt from scoring–Crabtree had an 85 meter run with a quick offload to John Palladino for the final try of the match.
Game 3: Mary Sue Coleman 10 – Bennie Oosterbaan 14
The first four minutes of the match passed scoreless, until Ty Waters took the ball to the wing and broke two tackles en route to an unconverted try. Grady Bridges answered for Oosterbaan when he broke through the line of the Coleman defense at the 50m mark and sprinted his way to a try and a conversion. Oosterbaan led 7-5 at halftime. In the first minute of the second half, Chris Hopfner received a pass off of a line-out 25m from the try line and fended his way in for the score, converted by Bridges. Ty Waters then picked up a knock-on by Oosterbaan and sprinted 40m for another unconverted try.
Game 4: Don Canham 12 – James J. Duderstadt 5
Team Duderstadt got on the scoreboard earl as Matt Crabtree sidestepped past Drew Vecchio to put his team ahead 5-0. The remainder of the half saw a string of knock-ons by both teams, eliminating many scoring opportunities. Three minutes into the second half Nick Lazurka stole the ball from team Duderstadt and quickly passed to Mike Ronzetti who ran 70m for an unconverted try. In the last minute of the game, Forrest Gilfoy of team Canham broke a long run down the sideline for the game winning try. Conversion by CJ Stock.
Game 5: Bennie Oosterbaan 19 – Stephen M. Ross 24
In the most exciting match of the night, the undefeated Oosterbaans went up against the winless team Ross. Grady Bridges started the match off quickly with a try and a conversion to put team Oosterbaan up 7-0 in the first minute. In the following minute, Sam Saravolatz of team Ross added an unconverted try of his own. Not to be outdone, Chris Hopfner scooped up a loose ball from 30m out and broke a few tackles on his way to a try, converted by Grady Bridges. Just before halftime, Chris Padmos found a hole in the defense around 60m out but is chased down by two Oosterbaan defenders. Padmos switched the ball to Joel Conzelmann, who took the ball with pace and ran it in for the try and conversion. Ross trailed 14-12 at the half. Two minutes in to the second half Conzelmann scored another try on down the sideline, and added a conversion. Ross continued with its offensive assault, Conzelmann drawing in three defenders and offloading to Saravolatz who sprinted down the sideline for a score. Kevin Cheng scored a late try for Oosterbaan, but it was not enough to come away with the win. Thus, Team Ross won its first game against the previously undefeated Team Oosterbaan.
Game 6: James Earl Jones 17 – Mary Sue Coleman 5
The last match of the night began with a solid team defensive effort by Team Coleman. Until, that is, Danny DiGregorio stole the ball and popped it to Ben Clemens after taking it in to contact. Clemens ran on to score an unconverted try. Two minutes later Steve Offringa scored a solo try off of a scrum to put JEJ up 10-0 at half. The second half opened with errors by both teams, but a noticeable poach by Michael Wilinski. Team JEJ added to their lead when Philippe Kirschen broke away and offloaded to Chris James who took it in for the try, with a conversion by Steve Offringa. Team Coleman answered with a solid possession culminating in an unconverted try by Michael Wilinski from one meter out. In the closing seconds of the game Team Coleman had a break down the sideline but was caught from behind by Evan Rourke and lost the ball out of bounds.
