This week marks the start of the local spring schedule. The club took on two teams in France over spring break but are now set to battle local rivals over the final weeks of the semester.
The games start this Friday as the first team will travel to Davenport to seek revenge for a 43-34 loss in the fall. Kickoff is set for 5:00pm. Later in the night, the second team will take on Saginaw Valley State University in Oosterbaan Field House at 8:30pm.
On the 24th, the team looks to have a rare home game as they host Grand Valley State University at Riverside Park. The location is weather contingent. It’s possible the game would take place in Allendale. Either way, the game should be a good match up as U of M dropped the first side match last fall but won the second side game.
March 31st will see Michigan head down to Bowling Green State University. The game is most likely going to be in the BGSU soccer stadium. BG, always a Midwest championship competitor should be a tough opponent for the men in blue and will offer a good measuring stick heading into fall play.
A great rivalry is renewed on April 6th as the UMRFC heads up to East Lansing to take on Michigan State. The teams didn’t play in the fall so it will be interesting to see where the clubs stand. A victory up the road would be a great way to send the seniors off in style.
The final match of the spring will be at Miami (OH) on April 14. Another strong Division 1 squad from the fall, Miami will be another good measuring stick for the club. The match will be held at the Cincinnati Wolfhounds home grounds.
