Before their kits had dried from Saturday’s rainy match against Miami (OH), some Michigan players were up early the next morning to volunteer at the Big House Big Heart Race. The special event, whose finish concluded at the 50 yard line of Michigan Stadium, is held several times during the year. Runners of all levels are welcome as there is a 10k, 5k, and two 1 mile runs for children with all of the proceeds going to non-profit organizations. This year, a group of 10 ruggers woke up at 6am the day after their match to help out with registration and guidance for all of the participants. An eventful morning for the team included registering over a thousand participants, directing hoards of vivacious children around the course, and for Stuart Roche, enduring an onslaught of pouring rain while running the 10k. It was a great weekend for the UMRFC who will avoid any further rainfall by taking shelter in the Shapiro Library in preparation for finals week.
