Michigan Rugby recently won their second consecutive Club Sports Outstanding Service Award. The club prides itself on service both in the Ann Arbor community and abroad.

This year the club volunteered at U of M blood drives, organized team blood giving, assisted a family in need at Christmas, helped clean up the Grand River Creative Corridor, assisted the Red Cross in Trinidad and Tobago, and volunteered at various youth rugby and sport events. The team is also preparing to assist the From the Heart program at the Mott Children’s Hospital.

In addition to this award, the team was also a finalist for the Club Sports Sportsmanship Award for the camaraderie rugby teams embrace each other with on game days. Other finalists included Mike LaCivita and Joel Conzelmann for Club Sports Outstanding Male Athlete and Ian Etheart for the Janet K. Wells Outstanding Leadership Award.

The Michigan Difference Student Leadership Awards ceremony was held by the Division of Student Affairs in the Michigan Union Rogel Ballroom and encompassed all aspects of university life. Congratulations to all of the award winners in their excellent representation of the University of Michigan. Go Blue!
