University of Michigan Rugby Football club is excited to announce the formation of the UMRFC Hall of Inspiration. The Hall of Inspiration will serve to protect and celebrate the long history of Michigan Rugby from its inception as an all inclusive club for students, graduate students and local Ann Arborites to its current form of a true college team. As Michigan Rugby Director of Alumni Relations Nick Azzopardi explains it “Because of the familial atmosphere of Michigan rugby, which has stood the test of time, we have an incredible alumni base that remains incredibly supportive and very connected to the club long after their playing days. The Hall of Inspiration is a way to thank them by honoring those players that were truly exceptional in every facet of being a Michigan rugby player.”
The first class to be inducted will be enshrined this September 19th, 2015 at the annual Olde Blue Weekend during Saturday night’s dinner. Along with a list of criteria, that can be found on the nomination form, the club executives and Student Advisory Committee are also looking for some intangibles in candidates, says Azzopardi. “The perfect candidate is someone who, above all else, put the club before themselves. They should be someone who excelled and inspired their teammates with their play on the field, their leadership off of it, and with a profound commitment to the spirit of Michigan rugby.” Hall of Inspiration members will be celebrated on the mrugby.com webpage until a permanent physical spot can be found.
