Congratulations to March’s Alumnus of the month, Jeremy Reid!
When did you play?
2013 – 2017
What position did you play?
Backrow 6-8, a little prop in the beginning
What was your favorite memory as a member of the club?
Definitely has to be the 2015 Costa Rica tour. It was my first tour with the club and the amount of things we got to experience was insane. We all probably only got 2 hours a sleep a night because the bus would pick us up at 4:00 am from the hostel to take us to our next destination. We played a great game against University of Costa Rica and Coach even got red carded against the second team we played. We went from surfing in the pacific to visiting volcanoes and waterfalls to trying to get into the local Club (Hoxton) but failing. It also birthed one of the worst haircuts ever seen that I had the honor to wear.
Did you receive any special honors as part of the club
I was elected captain from 2016-2017 and had the honor of playing on the 2015 CRC squad.
What are you doing now?
Currently work at Chewy.com down in Fort Lauderdale doing some program management for our pharmacy division. Still playing rugby for the Fort Lauderdale team, biding the time before my knees explode.
Any other interesting stories?
I was lucky enough to celebrate 3 birthdays while on tour with the team. Our guide in Cuba thought I was 45 years old and was the assistant coach of the team.. never really lived that one down with everyone. Also the entire making of the CRC “Shake it off” parody video was an amazing time, I recommend giving it a watch every so often.
