Any Interesting Stories?
Too many to list. Beating GVSU (I mean, Marcus beat GVSU) my first year, making playoffs, Mardi Gras trip, taking over Touchdown Cafe on random nights, to working for Jeff Hagan during the summer (Champion Management). Even after college at my post-wedding party, memories were made. A good group of us experienced downtown Grand Rapids, Scrumpy refused to sleep at my house and rather slept in the trunk of his car. That next morning I had G call me whispering in the phone to pick him up from some unknown location (random apartment bathroom).
Rugby and the UM experience had a profound impact on me and motivated me to help start a high school rugby program (Grandville High School) which climbed to 70 high school players and a then a middle school team. The goal was to get students to play in college or a men’s side and experience rugby at the next level. I am very proud to see the boys have success (state champs in 2010 and many go on and win in college and men’s side – Davenport and GR Gazelles). I proudly wear UM rugby swag around town often and love having convos when asked about it.
