Why did you decide to play rugby?
I never knew much about the sport before coming here, but it always intrigued me as something I’d like to try. So, one day I decided to email [Captain] Tanner Visco and he told me I could show up to my first practice. Ever since then I’ve been loving it.
What have you liked about Michigan Rugby so far?
The overall team camaraderie. There’s a healthy ratio of hard work to tomfoolery.
Describe your most memorable moment on the field.
Stepping on the field in my first Intrasquads scrimmage. It was a thrill I haven’t really experienced since high school football. You get an indescribable feeling from these types of sports that you just can’t really get anywhere else. Getting that back was awesome.
What’s your most favorite rugby drill in practice? Least favorite?
Favorite: Mini-scrimmages. Least favorite: Bronco
What other sports have you played?
Football, Lacrosse, and Track & Field
What do you see yourself doing in five years?
Being a med school student.
What is an embarrassing childhood memory that you can share with us?
When I was 10, my friend Jeremy and I decided to perform “Billionaire” by Bruno Mars at our sleep-away-camp talent show. He sang the chorus and he killed it. When my part came on (the rap), I stood there, motionless, forgetting all the words and barely moving. It still haunts me.
What is your favorite place in Ann Arbor?
The Arb
What is your biggest fear?
Bees, particularly hornets
What is your favorite food?
Anything either of my grandmas make (can’t choose)
Do you have any game-day superstitions?
Right sock, right shoe, left sock, left shoe. In that order. It just feels right.
Who is you favorite superhero and why?
Batman, because he doesn’t have any actual “powers.” He’s just a hard-worker. He’s gritty. He’s smart.
What is the best advice you have ever received?
Don’t eat the yellow snow.
Again, congratulations to our March Player of the Month, Brett Silber!
