Why did you decide to play rugby?
I played in high school, but didn’t think I was good enough to play in college. However, I met a couple rugby guys at the activities fair during orientation, and decided that I’d have fun playing and being part of the team.

What have you liked about Michigan Rugby so far?
The construction. Our culture is competitive, but we still pick each other up, and give each other one on one help when we see the need for improvement. The team has struck an excellent balance of friendship and competitiveness. Because of this, I see a bright future for Michigan Rugby.

Describe your most memorable moment on the field.
When I played for the Ann Arbor Men’s team against the B side. It was totally unfair, but I had a great game, scored a try, and really saw myself improving in my understanding of the team’s positioning.

What’s your most favorite rugby drill in practice? Least favorite?
I love the Bronco. I don’t think I have a least favorite.

What other sports have you played?
I did football and wrestling along with rugby throughout high school.

What do you see yourself doing in five years?
I’m in Army ROTC, so I’ll be commissioning as a Second Lieutenant when I graduate. I hope to branch either Engineering or Infantry.

What is an embarrassing childhood memory that you can share with us?
I got held back in preschool for being “socially underdeveloped.”

What is your favorite place in Ann Arbor?
Crazy Wisdom book store, they have a coffee shop.

What is your biggest fear?
Aliens

What is your favorite food?
Fish Fry, whenever I go up to Three Lakes, Wisconsin to see family, we catch a bunch of bluegill and other fish and fry them up.

Do you have any game-day superstitions?
I always double knot my cleats. I’m not very superstitious.

Who is your favorite superhero and why?
Captain America, “On your left.”

What is the best advice you have ever received?
My wrestling coach told me: “Hard work beats talent when talent doesn’t work hard.”

Again, congratulations to our May Player of the Month, AJ Nasharr!
