As we have for the past several years, Michigan Rugby is participating in the Walk to End Alzheimer’s this fall. Alzheimer’s is a degenerative neurological disease that generally affects older Americans. According to the Alzheimer’s Association, Alzheimer’s is the sixth-most-common cause of death in the United States, and affects more than five million Americans.
The Walk to End Alzheimer’s is an annual fundraiser dedicated to advancing Alzheimer’s care and Alzheimer’s research, with the eventual goal of discovering a cure. This year’s walk will take place on October 11.
Because of the coronavirus pandemic, participants will not gather as a large group. Instead, each participant is encouraged to complete the walk on their own.
For the last few years, Truman Stovall, MRugby’s Director of Community Service, has worked to spread this event in the Ann Arbor community. By 2019, nine of Michigan’s club sports teams participated in the walk, raising over $7,500.
