While it’s more common for players to leave the team in May, two players are graduating after completing the Fall 2020 semester. Logan Fettes and Davis Grimm both made significant contributions to the club.
Logan and Davis, thank you for all you’ve done for Michigan Rugby.
Logan Fettes
Logan Fettes joined Michigan Rugby in Fall 2019 as a graduate transfer from Duke University. A tighthead prop, Logan earned Conference All Stars in his final year at Duke, and he was an immediate starter on the top side once he came to Michigan. He started every game for the Wolverines in Fall 2019.
Unfortunately, the coronavirus pandemic cut Logan’s Michigan career short. He graduates with a degree in space systems engineering, and he plans to move to California, where he will work in spacecraft engineering.

Davis Grimm
Davis Grimm spent four and a half years as a Michigan rugger, first as a prop and later as a number 8. He rose up the ranks and served as the team’s assistant captain in his final season on the field. Davis was particularly impressive in 2019, when he battled through injuries to win Michigan’s Player of the Year and Comeback Player of the Year honors.
Davis graduates having been selected for 31 top side competitions. No active player has played in more games. A general studies major, he hopes to move to Washington, D.C. and enter a career in politics.
Here’s Davis Grimm picking the ball out of a scrum against Wisconsin in 2019. After passing the ball off to Jordan Perez, Davis stayed in the play and cleared the ensuing ruck, setting up a Michigan try:
