Why did you decide to play rugby?
I transferred to Michigan after winning the MCLA National Championship with the University of South Carolina Lacrosse, thus I needed a competitive outlet. I have always loved competing and loved the physicality of rugby.

What have you liked about Michigan Rugby so far?
Representing the University of Michigan on the pitch has been great. There’s a certain camaraderie and respect that is found only within sports like rugby that are built on grit and physicality.

Describe your most memorable moment on the field.
In my first game, I had broken my nose open against Ohio State. I remember standing in the try zone after the game, we had lost, and I looked up at the scoreboard, enraged by what I saw. That’s when I realized how much I cared about this team and the Block M, despite the muscle aches and blood coming from my nose, I refused to experience that again.

What’s your most favorite rugby drill in practice? Least favorite?
Big fan of the box drill, 5 guys must stay within a 5×5 yard box while one guy tries to get as many tackles as possible in an allotted time. Having grown up wrestling, combined with my long arms; I am quite good at not getting tackled.

What other sports have you played?
Lacrosse, Wrestling, Football

What do you see yourself doing in five years?
Law School

What is an embarrassing childhood memory that you can share with us?
My middle school English teacher made me cry because I wore a chicken suit to school.

What is your favorite place in Ann Arbor?

What is your biggest fear?
Complacency

What is your favorite food?

Do you have any game-day superstitions?
I have a game-day playlist I listen to and watch old game footage from High school of me losing.

Who is your favorite superhero and why?
Batman, big fan of a “normal” person taking on those viewed as superior to him, and always like a good revenge story.

What is the best advice you have ever received?
Never let yourself get beat because the other guy outworked you.

Again, congratulations to our January Player of the Month, Bill Young!
