Congratulations to Truman Stovall, our Player of the Month!

Position: Center

Height: 6’0″

Weight: 185 lbs

Year: Senior

Major: Biomedical Engineering

Why did you decide to play rugby?
I started playing in high school as a way to get better at football in the off-season.

What have you liked about Michigan Rugby so far?
Michigan Rugby has played a role in nearly every facet of my college experience, and it has helped me make connections throughout Ann Arbor, the country, and across the world. I think my Michigan Rugby experiences have made me a better student and a better person.

Describe your most memorable moment on the field.
After years of refining my Sonny Bill pass, I had a 2-on-1 opportunity with Lucas Dean during a match to show her off in the corner for the try, breaking numerous ankles in the process. If the film camera quality was respectable that day I’d be linking the SportsCenter Top 10 from that week to answer this question.

What’s your most favorite rugby drill in practice? Least favorite?
Aussie rules! I like watching the forwards whiff on wide-open kicks. Least favorite drill by far is watching practice from the sideline because you’re on the exercise bike doing PT.

What other sports have you played?
Football, wrestling, track, ping pong, chess. Also, I was a national karate champion when I was 7. Not sure how that happened.

What do you see yourself doing in five years?
If I don’t quit or get fired by then, I’ve got a job lined up doing cyber risk consulting for medical device companies and health systems. So, probably that.

What is an embarrassing childhood memory that you can share with us?
I don’t do embarrassing things. Mom, stay out of the comment section.

What is your favorite place in Ann Arbor?
A local bar and family restaurant called Good Time Charley’s.

What is your biggest fear?
When I see a spider it’s an instant fight or flight response.

What is your favorite food?
Baklava

Do you have any game-day superstitions?
Making sure I’m clean before I put on my kit. I need to have a shower sometime before the game to get my mind and body where they need to be.

Who is your favorite superhero and why?
Batman does everything the right way and with sheer willpower is able to overcome the greatest villains ever created in order to protect anyone who needs help.

What is the best advice you have ever received?
You can be the man at night as long as you’re the man in the morning.

Again, congratulations to our May Player of the Month, Truman Stovall!
