Wolverines Feast on Bearcats

Michigan kicked off its fall season with a bang versus Cincinnati. The first side dominated 38-8, and the second side cranked out a scrappy 12-10 victory.

The first side started out hot. Senior wing Grant Sasina–who put on 20 pounds of muscle in the offseason–began the game with a massive break that resulted in a penalty try a few phases later. Immediately afterwards, number 8 George Janke and center Nathan Feldman connected coming out of a scrum, and it was already 14-0 Michigan. The Wolverines remained in control for the rest of the game, and started bringing on substitutes around the 50th minute.

Michigan’s second side played before the top side, and Jamie Willcox’s first career conversion kick was the difference. Many of the second side players will make an impact on the top side this season.

Next week, the Wolverines welcome Western Michigan to Mitchell Field. The Broncos are in the MAC (Mid-American Conference) with Cincinnati and finished second in the conference last season. This will be their first game of the fall.
