Why did you decide to play rugby?
After a couple months at Michigan, I realized how much I missed playing sports and being a part of a team. I was drawn to the strong community of the rugby team, and after coming to a practice, I knew it was a group that I wanted to be a part of.
What have you liked about Michigan Rugby so far?
It’s a tight-knit group that loves to compete, but also have a good time together. Everyone in the program motivates each other and wants to see the guys succeed on and off the field.
Describe your most memorable moment on the field.
My first game was in Madison and the weather was brutal. Being a soft California kid, it was a slap in the face to feel the combination of rain, wind and cold. Although the game was not the most enjoyable, one of the Wisconsin moms made some good barbecue that we ate afterwards as we were all covered in mud.
What’s your most favorite rugby drill in practice? Least favorite?
I like rucking drills because they are a time where we can be physical in practice. A hard part of practice for me is stretching because I’m not flexible.
What other sports have you played?
I played lacrosse and football growing up.
What do you see yourself doing in five years?
I hope to be working hard at a consulting or finance job that I enjoy and living in a city near family or friends, where I can be active.
What is an embarrassing childhood memory that you can share with us?
I spelled my name wrong on the SAT.
What is your favorite place in Ann Arbor?
The Arboretum. I like walking through nature as I call my parents.
What is your biggest fear?
Not getting a summer internship…or not making the most of life’s opportunities.
What is your favorite food?
Thanksgiving. Turkey, stuffing, pie, etc cannot be beat.
Do you have any game-day superstitions? Explain.
Before every game, dating back to football games in high school, I listen to the same playlist in the same order. It starts slow, but last song I listen to is “Dreams and Nightmares” by Meek Mill. The song fires me up to take advantage of the moment.
Who is your favorite superhero and why?
A lot of people tell me that I look like Barry Allen, so I’ll say The Flash.
What is the best advice you have ever received?
“Eat more” – Jordan Bacharach
Again, congratulations to our December Player of the Month, Nate Seevak!
