Rankings
3. Dudes
When the Dudes walked out onto the field, showcasing their new kit, the Bennies and Sues couldn’t help but stare. Their short lived swagger trickled away slowly and surely over all three rounds. After an 0-2 start, they were expected to bounce back given the talent in their side. New talent Micah Conner gave the side hope touching down 2 tries in his debut, but it wasn’t enough to win the games that mattered. Still winless, the Dudes entered round 3 out of contention for first place. The Dudes return current junior Captain Tommy Hendricks who utilized an aggressive drafting strategy, their 2024 season. But it will be difficult to replace Colin Sampic, the experienced exchange student who was drafted early only to spend one season with the Dudes.
2. Bennies
With graduate student Nathan Feldman captaining the Bennies, the preseason favorites were visibly unified on the pitch. Aggressive yet disciplined in defense, the Bennies were known for making big hits, sending a message in week one after a 2-0 start. New draftees Luke Zana and Quinn Mahoney seemed to take the side to a new level. Their first defeat came at the hands of the Sues, and they found themselves second in the table after round 2. Unable to complete the comeback in round 3, the Bennies ended up second in the final standings. The future won’t be clear for the Bennies until next year’s draft, where they will have an unknown captain after Feldman’s departure.
- Sues
The Sues emerge victorious after sitting at the bottom of the intrasquads preseason rankings. Initially, it seemed that injuries would make all the difference in the end of things, but the Sues drafted well. The turning point in their season came in round 2, where through teamwork and strategy, they grinded out 2 wins to establish a lead in the standings they would not lose. Players like Chrisitan Irvine and Michael Ackerman stepped up on championship day to clinch the title. Aidan Johnson played an unlikely role, with a perfect record on conversions on the final day which eased tension in the final minutes against the Bennies. Although seniors George Janke and Grant Sasina will graduate and pass the torch this April, the Sues likely won’t find themselves at the bottom of next year’s preseason rankings.
