Why did you decide to play rugby?
My dad played in high school and college so he got me into it when I was a kid. I played all throughout high school and enjoyed it, so I chose to stick with it in college, and I haven’t looked back since. I love everything about the sport whether it’s watching or playing. Shout out Shea Loughnane for getting me to play at Michigan.

What have you liked about Michigan Rugby so far?
The culture is unlike any other team I’ve been a part of. Everyone is welcoming and supportive. I feel motivated and push myself to be better just by being around all my teammates and coaches who work so hard. I feel like I have made some friends for life through Michigan Rugby. Tour is cool too!

Describe your most memorable moment on the field.
My most memorable moment with Michigan Rugby came last year at the CRCs 7s in D.C. during our last game. We were down by a lot and weren’t going to win the game but the other team threw a pass and it hit the ground and I picked it up and ran it in for a try. In the end, we still lost but it still felt pretty cool scoring a try at the CRCs as a freshman against tough competition. My other most memorable moment was when I was in New Zealand playing for Poneke and scored two tries to secure man of the match in our last game there to help our team advance to the next round of the playoffs. That is something I’ll never forget.

What’s your most favorite rugby drill in practice? Least favorite?
My favorite rugby drill in practice is probably just running set-piece plays against opposition. I enjoy reading the defense and positioning myself to break the line or throw a pass for my teammates to score. My least favorite drill is definitely the kick chase drill, which isn’t fun if you’re a center like me. It is basically just straight cardio for 10 minutes. Going into a Brahj conditioning circuit right after is brutal.

What other sports have you played?
In high school, besides rugby, I played football and ran track. I also count playing rec basketball because my friends and I took it super seriously.

What do you see yourself doing in five years?
I see myself (hopefully) working in the consulting industry post-grad and living in a city somewhere on the East Coast, maybe Boston or NYC.

What is an embarrassing childhood memory that you can share with us?

I once failed a squat at the gym and the bar slid right off my back and slammed on the ground and everyone proceeded to stare right at me.

What is your favorite place in Ann Arbor?
1122 / 1128 White St. A lot of tomfoolery and good times happen there.

What is your biggest fear?
Being forgotten.

What is your favorite food?
My mom makes Beef Bulgogi bowls that are absolutely delicious. I request them every time I’m home from college. It’s a bowl that consists of white rice, shredded carrots, skinned cucumbers, sour cream, and ground beef with bulgogi sauce.

Do you have any game-day superstitions? Explain.
Not really but I always listen to music on the bus rides and before warmups start.

Who’s your favorite superhero? Why?
Batman. The Dark Knight is my favorite superhero movie, and Batman, in general, has so much aura.

What is the best advice you have ever received?

I forgot where I found it, but the simple quote “Apply yourself” really stuck with me. I think it holds true in all aspects of life. If you put forth a good effort and try at something, you will succeed in some capacity. Putting in effort and trying hard will get you far in life, so I always try to do that.

Again, congratulations to our November Player of the Month, Jack Regan!
