Why Rugby?
The challenge. Its a dangerous beast that demands respect and determination if you can’t find both it’ll chew you up and spit you out.
What have you liked about Michigan rugby the most so far?
Great group of guys. Won’t find them weirder anywhere else. Hell if they tried to secede Ann arbor as a nation I’d back them up.
Most memorable moment on the pitch?
The Boys in Blue went to Wisconsin to play some rugby and I will never forget the resounding pop from the other side of the field and the look on the trainers face when Cole Van Harn popped his leg back in at a game.
What’s your favorite rugby drill in practice? Least Favorite?
Watching the backs do suicides. Doing suicides with the forwards while the backs watch.
What other sports have you played?
Football, Soccer, Basketball, Baseball, Track and Field, Tennis, Skiing Slalom, and the occasional bout of underwater basket weaving.
In 5 years what do you see yourself doing?
Building Bill Murray a Gazebo and kicking back with him
What’s some embarrassing childhood memories you can share with us?
Used to sleep walk and would mark my territory the floor, chair, dresser, kitchen sink, nothing was safe.
Favorite place in Ann Arbor?
Probably the golf course in the morning. It’s the best job ever being grounds crew. I’m a man of simple taste.
Biggest fear?
That would have to be not dying in an amazing blaze of glory. I’d sooner go extreme downhill wheel chairing than sit in a nursing home.
Favorite food/meal?
Steak n’ taters slathered with butter and garlic with all the fixins of course.
Any game day superstitions?
Comb the beard to ensure maximum intimidation
Favorite superhero and why?
Used to be the big ones, spiderman/batman. But the guys introduced me to Taylor Swift my goodness did I have some pagan role models she blows them out of the water
Best advice you’ve ever received?
Courage favors the brave and the stupid. You better find out which one you are in life quickly. TM Coach Sparks you have my permission to add that quote to your plethora of archaic wisdom.
