After a hiatus caused by the coronavirus pandemic, the Battle for the Mitten is back for the first time since 2019.

Michigan faces Notre Dame at Mitchell Field tonight. The games are part of the festivities for Olde Blue Weekend, Michigan Rugby’s annual alumni event.

This year the conference looks a little different. Notre Dame has joined, bringing the total number of teams to eight. With this, the league has moved to a two division system.

Michigan returns to the Collegiate Rugby Championship for the first time since 2016, and hopes to reach the quarterfinals for the first time since 2015.

Michigan’s 11-player Collegiate Rugby Championship (CRC) team trained in Ann Arbor for five weeks after the end of the semester. With a roster that only has one senior and two juniors, Michigan has one of the youngest teams in this year’s CRC.

On March 30, the Collegiate Rugby Championship (CRC) bracket was revealed. Michigan grabbed the West Region’s 5th seed and will face American International College (AIC) in the First Round.

Generously hosted the Michigan Rugby Foundation, the tournament will feature all eight of Big Ten Rugby’s member schools.

Michigan is sending three teams down to South Bend this weekend to compete against some of the best teams in the country.

The bulk of the Wolverine’s spring schedule is set. The club will focus completely on 7s in a Spring 2022 schedule that will feature a tour to Arizona and Southern California and four tournaments in the Midwest.
