SISU™ Mouthguard August Player of the Month: Nic Granchalek

Nic Granchalek is a 6’1″, 205 lb junior who has earned a starting lock spot for the top side this fall.

Breaking Barriers: Kelly McCafferty Becomes the First Female Officer

Kelly McCafferty is a rising junior who is the first woman to become an officer for Michigan Rugby. McCafferty has developed UMRFC’s newest role, Social Media Officer, and is one of the many non-player officers that joined the officer board earlier this year. 

Fall 15s are Back

This year the conference looks a little different. Notre Dame has joined, bringing the total number of teams to eight. With this, the league has moved to a two division system.

July Alumnus of the Month: Stu Roche

Stu Roche played at Michigan in 2010 and later served as the team’s strength and conditioning coach. He found his way to Milwaukee where he coaches at Marquette University.

SISU™ Mouthguard July Player of the Month: Shea Loughnane

Loughnane is a 5’8″, 160 lb rising sophomore who enjoyed a breakout freshman 7s season. We’re excited to see how he progresses in year two.

The Man Behind the Curtain: Azeem’s CRC Success

As Chief Logistics Officer, Ali Azeem executed a successful six day trip to the Collegiate Rugby Championship in New Orleans, Louisiana.

June Alumnus of the Month: Scott Zeigler

Scott Zeigler played for Michigan from 1986 until 1988 as a wing, fullback and center. Scott played in many tours with Michigan, including trips to Florida and Washington, D.C. and shares his favorite memories from those years.

SISU™ Mouthguard June Player of the Month: Conor McNabnay

McNabnay is a 5’8″, 160 pound back whose rugby career is on an upward trajectory. He played meaningful minutes in the 2022 Collegiate Rugby Championship after starting the season on the second side.

2022 CRC: Michigan Stumbles, But Shows Flashes

Michigan went 2-3 at the 2022 Collegiate Rugby Championship (CRC) 7s tournament and finished 27th in the nation. Freshman scrumhalf Shea Loughnane led Michigan with six tries.
